Corsair XMS Pro PC3200c2 2GB Review - Conclusion

    Conclusion

This dual channel 2GB kit is solid and stable. In the course of running benchmarks and burning in the RAM at the correct voltages and timings, it performed beautifully. I saw no irregularities. Load times in games were also some of the fastest I've seen. It really goes to prove where Corsair got the reputation for making high-speed and widely-compatible modules.

And of course, don’t forget how the LEDs make your case light up colorfully. Here’s a shot of them running in the test system in near dark.

This isn’t really overclocking memory, which is why we aren’t judging it that way. That said, it doesn’t need to be overclocked. It’s top quality memory that flies without tinkering.

As far as price, I found this kit sells online for as low as $215 (Newegg) at the time of this writing. There is even a limited-time sale where it is priced at $175. Competing 2GB DDR400 Cas 2 kits start around $195, though the Corsair PC3200c2 kit has more to offer than those in the way of timings, features, and compatibility. At $215, this kit is priced cheaper than many competing kits; and if you find it on sale like I did, buy it right away. It provides a lot of power, and you won’t find better price for performance.

This kit comes highly recommended from Dev Hardware for anyone building or upgrading a high-power system. It's suitable for gaming or working with media without being too expensive. If you were considering smaller capacities or a cheaper brand, consider getting this instead of settling for less.

    Highlights

    • Extremely fast and benchmarks very well
    • Stable and flawless performance throughout burn-in process
    • Amazing price for performance, especially on sale
    • Giant heat spreaders
    • LEDs that make window cases look cooler

Dev Hardware would like to thank Corsair for the chance to review this memory. Also, thank you for reading today’s review. For more information, you can stop by Corsair's website. Also check out the Dev Hardware forums if you want to talk about this kit or have any computer questions.
