Corsair TWINX1024-4400 Memory Review - Testing

I tested the RAM using the followng system:
- Abit IC7-G MAX2
- Pentium IV 2.4 'C'
- Antec True Control 550 watt power supply
- Koolance Exos
- Radeon 9800 Pro 128MB
- Memory Timings set to 3-4-4-8 except the 270 MHz front side bus with 5:4 ratio; those timings were 2.5-4-3-6
I was only able to run the memory with a 270 MHz bus and the processor with a 284 MHz bus. Therefore, the following tests were run with a 270 MHz front side and memory bus (1:1 ratio), a 270 MHz front side bus with the memory bus at 216 MHz (5:4 ratio), and with a 284 MHz front side bus and 227 MHz memory bus (5:4 ratio).
SiSoft Sandra

The first test was performed using SiSoft Sandra. The memory bandwidth test gives a fairly decent estimate of how additional memory bandwidth effects real world performance. Below, we see the 270 FSB at 1:1 leading all the other settings (not surprisingly), besting the 170 FSB at 5:4 by almost 10%, and the 284 FSB at 5:4 setting by about 5%. Let's see how those performance increases hold up in other benchmarks.
3DMark2001

3DMark2001 should start making things interesting. We will start to see the higher memory bandwidth vs. high CPU clock speed match up. The 284 FSB 5:4 setting is slightly faster here but only by 0.3%. The 270 FSB 1:1 setting is still 1.25% faster than the 270 FSB 5:4 setting.
3DMark2003

In the next benchmark, the 3DMark 2003 test, I expect things to tighten up. 3DMark 2003 is primarily a video card dependent benchmark with a user's system tweaks only factoring a small fraction into the overall score. I only include it to give you an idea of how the different settings may perform under system intensive DirectX 9 games, due out very soon. Key points the overall score only fluctuated slightly, with the 270 FSB 1:1 being exactly equal to the 284 FSB 5:4 setting. Also, note the CPU scores: the 270 FSB 5:4 setting drops nearly 3.7% because of the reduced memory bandwidth.
