Corsair PC3200 XL Low Latency RAM Review - Benchmarks: PiFast and RazorLame
(Page 5 of 7 )
PiFast
Computation of 10,000,000 digits of Pi
Method used: Chudnovsky
Size of FFT: 1024 K

In the first round of tests, the lower latency PC3200 XL takes a 2.67 second lead in this CPU intensive test. Very impressive considering the processor and system bus speed is the same for both test setups. In the second test, the mathematical computations performed by PiFast again clearly favor the lower latency of the PC3200 XL, with the PC3200 XL maintaining a 0.53 second lead over the TwinX PC4400.
RazorLame
RazorLame is a front end GUI for the excellent LAME mp3 encoder. A 13 minute .wav file and variable bit rate (“insane” preset) were used in an attempt to stress the CPU and memory as much as possible.

In both tests, the memory performance doesn't seem to have a strong influence on .mp3 encoding. I would have expected the CAS 2 PC3200 XL to come out at least a second ahead.
