Microsoft Sidewinder Gaming Mouse - Design

    Design

The Sidewinder is definitely good-looking; it boasts an all-black finish with a few red accents. Microsoft has specifically designed this mouse for fast, comfortable, and precise game play. The body of the mouse features a metal scroll wheel with clicking action, 5 programmable gaming buttons, vertical metal side buttons, and 3 DPI switching buttons. The bottom of the mouse features replaceable mouse feet, with a choice of three different materials which allow for a different feel.

Microsoft has also added a small storage compartment which is used to adjust the weight of the mouse; it doubles as a place to store the extra length of cord so that it does not tangle with anything on the desk top. The Sidewinder is fully customizable because of the programmable buttons, settings, and weight distribution.

The product marketing manager at Microsoft, Bill Jukes, said this about the customizable Sidewinder: "We're taking gaming mice to a new level with a mouse created in direct response to gamer feedback from all over the world; it offers superior customization and performance handling...We found that gamers are a lot like performance car enthusiasts. They like to tweak and tune their mouse to get it just right, and today we are giving them the tools to create a personalized experience that lets them focus on what's important: being at the top of their game."

Possibly the only design flaw of this mouse is the fact that it is not wireless. For
some gamers, this is not a big deal, but for others it could be a deal-breaker. I guess it is just a matter of preference. For those people who do desire a wireless gaming mouse, I would recommend checking out the Logitech G7 (est. $75).
