Microsoft Optical Mouse - Microsoft Optical Mouse

    MICROSOFT INTELLIMOUSE OPTICAL

    Installation:

We are running WindowsME here at the OCA secret labs and upon booting up the ol' PC it was instantly recognized and after prompting through the installation of proprietary software, viola!! We have MOUSE. However, I immediately embarked on a quick trip to the Microsoft Intellimouse Homepage to get updated 3.2 Intellipoint drivers. Have not had any trouble since the time of installation. But then since Microsoft is making this piece of hardware, the least they can do is make it compatible with the OS that 99% of the peeps are running on their boxes.

Here is the mouse properties window. Quite a nice improvement over my old Intellimouse. What your seeing here is the far right mousebutton highlighted. The dropdown menu gives you options on what you can have it do. Believe me, there are more choices than could ever want to use. Wished I could show you peeps, but Hypersnap would not let me take a pic with the dropdown menu open. Maybe i'm just an idiot...AHH well. Here is a thumbnail of the Left mouse button, if ya just gots ta see it.

    Features:

    • Ambidextrous—and smaller and lighter than the IntelliMouse Explorer. Whether you're right- or left-handed, or you have small or large hands, the IntelliMouse Optical is comfortable and easy to use.

    • New buttons for faster Web browsing. Move forward or back in your Internet browser, Office 2000, or Windows Explorer with two new side buttons. Or map them to other frequent functions—like cutting, pasting, and saving.

    • A wheel for scrolling more easily. The popular IntelliMouse wheel lets you scroll directly from the mouse, without needing the on-screen scroll bar or keyboard.

Above is just a little Microsoft marketing hype. But honestly, for the most part it is right on the mark. Now here are some personal observations that I have made.

Of course the first thing I noticed about the mouse itself when I put my hand to it, was how smooth and natural it felt in the curve of my hand. It was a change from the norm, but I quickly became accustomed to it, and now it's like second nature. Also, the scrolling wheel on this mouse is absolutely SMOOTH. I cannot express to you how free flowing the wheel rolls with just the slightest slide of your finger. I have already found myself searching for long pages, in order to justify using the scroll wheel.
