Logitech G5 Gaming Mouse - Well, how does it work??

To fully test this mouse, I did quite a few different things.  I used it while just working in Windows, working on this review, in fact.  I also did some photo editing with it, making use of the DPI buttons to slow down the mouse while I was doing some fine editing.  In addition, I played some games. Doom, Unreal Tournament, and Fear were among the lucky games to be played.

While playing the games, I also experimented with the weighting of the mouse. I must confess, this makes a bigger difference than I would have thought. After much tweaking, I found the mouse had the most natural and responsive movement for me when I added 24.8g to it.

This mouse worked amazingly well, especially during game play.  Being able to switch DPI in an instant was amazing, and really affected the accuracy of my shots when choosing between multiple weapons. The scroll wheel is solid, and the horizontal scrolling is very cool, though it may take a little getting used to.  Overall, this mouse, with its features and configurability, just totally rocks.

At the time of this writing, I found this mouse available online for about $50. This is not an outrageous price for a good quality mouse. And to be honest, this mouse is excellent quality.

Here are the pros and cons as I see them:

    PROS

    • Ergonomic Design
    • Extremely customizable (weights, DPI, software)
    • Up to 2000 DPI, changeable on the fly
    • Full Speed USB, faster access than most other mice use
    • Reasonable price

    CONS:

    • Right-handed only

Yes, that’s it.  The only CON I could find is that this mouse is built to fit in the right hand.  I am personally right-handed, so it made no difference to me. I don’t do this often, but I’m giving the Logitech G5 Laser Mouse a score of 10 out of 10, and our Dev Hardware Recommended product award.  Yes, this mouse is that good!

Thanks for reading my review of the Logitech G5 Laser Mouse.  If you would like any more information about it or any of Logitech’s fine products, visit their website at http://www.logitech.com.
