    CanoScan® LiDE 25 Review - Conclusions

    PROs:

    • Light, compact, thin, slim, stylish design.
    • Very affordable, inexpensive.
    • Easy to use, simple interface for novices.
    • OCR and other impressive features (color-restore for old photos).

    CONs:

    • USB 1.1 (slow connection speed compared to Ethernet or USB 2.0 Interfaces).
    • Relatively slow scanning speed especially on high optical resolutions.
    • Bundled with low-end software like the photo editor and the OCR SE (Special Edition).
    • Does not produce high peak image quality.

My final conclusion is that the CanoScan LiDE 25 is an 'OK' scanner for home and office use where scanning time is not an important factor and lower image quality is also acceptable. It's very affordable, compact, and light; these attributes are necessary when there is no space on a desk. If you want a better scanner, expect to pay a bit more; I can suggest you to check out its big brother the CanoScan LiDE 60 (~$80); that model is much faster and offers significantly better performance.

    Overall rating: 3/5.
