Major Mobiles Promise to Keep Costs Down on LTE Technology - Other Wireless Companies
(Page 3 of 4 )
There are more than seven wireless companies in the world…so what about those who aren’t a part of the pact? Many wireless companies exist who have agreed to offer no special licensing costs on LTE technology, and the upcoming wireless airwave auction all but guarantees there will be even more mobile companies springing up out of nowhere. The wireless market is a booming business, and it’s always subject to change. New technology, new ideas, and new innovations make wireless a competitive, cutting-edge market that many companies and entrepreneurs would like to be a part of. Who says they won’t charge much larger prices for LTE technology?
Seven large mobile companies -- again, Alcatel-Lucent, Ericsson, NEC, NextWave Wireless, Nokia, Nokia Siemens Networks and Sony Ericsson -- agreed to keep licensing fees down on LTE, but other companies may choose to march to their own drummer as far at the new technology is concerned. However, in the interest of business, it’s likely other companies will be forced to follow suit just to stay competitive. There will always be new wireless companies and new wireless technology, and the need for all of them to tempt customers helps make prices affordable for consumers.
LTE: The Future of Wireless
In spite of flashy press releases and banner headlines, LTE technology is far from a reality. By all accounts, the technology is still not complete or ready to be implemented in any sort of large-scale manner. Currently, LTE technology is still working on achieving standards, which means it‘s still being worked on.
LTE technology is making news in the U.S. wireless market as the two largest mobile carriers (Verizon and AT&T) have both indicated they will use LTE in the future. Companies have voiced their support of the technology, along with the GSM Association, and this could certainly help LTE emerge as the most widely-used wireless technology in the world…whenever it is, in fact, ready.
