Upgrading Your Mass Market System, Part 2 - The Next Step

Once you have changed it to CDROM, hit Esc and you'll be taken back to the original menu. At this time you should open your CDROM tray and put in your Windows XP disk and then select this option.

    BIOS

After pressing the Enter (or F10) key to select the "Save & Exit Setup" option a small warning type window will pop up asking you if you're sure, just hit Y for yes or Enter.

Note: if you think you inadvertently changed something you shouldn't have select the option below this one, "exit without saving" and start over.

Now your computer restarts and goes past the screen where you pressed the "Delete" key to get into your BIOS. It will then say Press any key to boot from CDROM, do so. The computer will read the XP disc and take a minute or so to load up then you'll see this.

    BIOS

Press Enter as instructed to initiate the XP setup process. For future reference, if something goes wrong during installation like for instance a power outage or something you will use the Recovery Console when you restart.
