Upgrading Your Mass Market System, Part 2 - Reinstalling XP
(Page 4 of 7 )
When you're ready to start the new XP installation you will have to start by turning on your computer and getting into the BIOS. This is usually done by pressing the "Delete" key at the prompt directly after hitting the power button to turn your computer on. In most cases your initial BIOS screen will look like this:

What you want to look for is "Advanced BIOS Features" as is highlighted above (or the equivalent, since not all BIOSs look the same). Obviously you can't use the mouse when in BIOS so just use the arrow keys to navigate and the "Enter" button to make your selection and the escape key to go back. Next you should see a screen that looks similar to this:

Don't worry about the other settings, as they may or may not be on your BIOS. Right now, all you're looking for is "First Boot Device." Highlight it, and hit the Enter key. A small menu type window should pop up. When it does, select CDROM (the default setting will probably be Floppy). If you can't find the "First Boot" option and you've looked at the whole list, just hit the Esc key and look in the other areas till you find it. Be careful not to change anything else.
