Thanksgiving has passed, and that means that the holiday shopping season is officially upon us. Purchasing gifts for others is no easy task, but there are certain gifts out there that will make almost anyone happy. Here are some of the top holiday tech gifts for 2011 that will surely put a smile on your recipientís face. They are far from cheap, but if you are truly looking to make a huge impression, you really cannot go wrong with any of these selections.

    Apple iMac

Itís hard to question the quality of Apple products, and that notion rings true with its iMac all-in-one computer.  Sure, it is expensive at nearly $2,000, but if you are going to go all out this holiday season, you might as well do it the right way with some peace of mind.

With a 27-inch display, the iMac could be considered the ultimate all-in-one.  It not only looks great and has a modern, classy touch to its design, but it also performs well with plenty of pep under the hood.  Whether you are shopping for the Apple loyalist or someone with a taste for some of the finer things in life, the Apple iMac is a true head-turning gift that will satisfy this holiday season.

    Samsung Galaxy S II

The Samsung Galaxy S II is the perfect gift for someone in need of a smartphone that wants to stray away from the Apple iPhone frenzy.  Yes folks, there are other quality smartphones on the market besides the snazzy iPhone, and this is one of them.

The advantages presented by the Samsung Galaxy S II are numerous.  First, itís a Samsung product, so you know you are getting quality.  Second, it comes available for a variety of carriers such as AT&T, Sprint, and T-Mobile, so you have some options to choose from.  Its distinction as an Android smartphone means the Galaxy S II comes with plenty of Google-based goodies.  Add to that a superb processor, a nice aesthetic design, and a superb display, and you have yourself a fantastic smartphone alternative to the iPhone.

    PlayStation 3 Slim Move Bundle

If you are looking for a holiday gift that will satisfy people of varying ages, the PlayStation 3 Slim Move Bundle is hard to beat.  Youíll definitely light up a young oneís eyes with this gift, but it could also serve as an all-purpose entertainment machine for the family.

The PlayStation 3 Slim comes with a revamped design that saves space.  The device is much more than a gaming machine too, although that will undoubtedly be the focus for many of its owners.  You can watch Netflix and other streaming content, or enjoy Blu-ray movies.  Thereís also integrated Wi-Fi and a web browser.  Unlike the Xbox 360, Sony allows you to enjoy online gaming via the PS3 for free.  Toss in the whole Move feature for extra interactivity when gaming, and you have yourself a holiday gift that is very multidimensional.  At $350 the bundle is pricy, but you do get a lot of bang for your buck.

    Apple iPad 2

Okay, so this may very well be a no-brainer to the list and something that is far from off the beaten path, but so what?  The iPad 2 is the best tablet around, so why settle for less?  At around $500, you will need some deep pockets to give the iPad 2 as a gift, or at least some good credit.  In return you are getting a top notch tablet at the top of its class.

Apple revamped the iPad 2 over its highly successful predecessor to give it a sleeker design, a more powerful processor, dual cameras to work with the FaceTime video chat feature, excellent battery life, and 3G compatibility with AT&T or Verizon.  Not only is the hardware top of the line, but you also get access to the best app store around to really maximize your tablet.  If you have the cash and intention to buy a tablet for that special someone this holiday season, the choice is rather simple.  Get the iPad 2.

    Kindle Fire

Is the iPad 2 out of your price range, but you are dying to pick up a tablet to make someoneís holiday season a memorable one?  If so, the Kindle Fire from Amazon may be right up your alley.  This newly released tablet hit the market to shake things up, and it has been successful in that regard so far.

The biggest appeal of the Kindle Fire comes from its wallet-friendly $199 price tag.  Sure, it comes with a smaller display than the iPad at seven inches, but it does offer a lot of the same functionality you would expect out of a tablet.  Thereís a dual-core processor, Wi-Fi, web browsing, apps, movies, magazines, e-books, and much more.  You also get access to a host of Amazon services to help keep you busy.

    iPhone 4S

I know it seems as if this list is a bit biased towards Apple products, but the whole point of gift shopping during the holiday season is to please those on the receiving end.  Apple products are red-hot right now and have all the name recognition you could want, plus they are noted for their quality.  Thatís why they are making the list.  As for smartphone shoppers, the iPhone 4S is Appleís latest release and it really sells itself.

You donít have to be an Apple follower to want the iPhone 4S, because it is much more than just hype.  You can count on a snappy processor, superb graphics, an industry-leading camera, and the clever Siri software that acts like a personal assistant.  Of course, you also get access to the plethora of apps located within the App Store as well.  The iPhone 4S is available for a variety of carriers and starts at $199 for the 16GB version with a two-year contract.  You can pick it up in black or white to satisfy differing tastes.
