Top Five Green Laptops - Dell Latitude D630

Are you a Dell user? Consider buying the Dell Latitude D630. In addition to EPEAT giving it a gold rating, the laptop also meets rigorous Energy Star 4.0 requirements. The Dell Latitude D630 is the first laptop that achieved a gold rating from EPEAT. There are a few reasons for this. For one, it has a lifecycle of approximately three to four years because it's constructed with a magnesium alloy. As far as packaging goes, Dell uses 25 percent post-consumer recycled content. Because Dell cut the carbon footprint, the Dell Latitude D630 has a longer battery lifecycle, and doesn't throw off as much heat as other laptops do.

Dell's Latitude D630 comes with a 14-inch widescreen. It also has a 1.8 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor, 8x optical drive, and 60 GB SATA hard drive, that's protected by a durable magnesium alloy frame. This protects your hard drive from shock. It also comes with four USB ports, but unfortunately, the laptop doesn't have a FireWire port or memory card reader.

The Dell Latitude D630 also comes with a wireless antenna. If you want to take advantage of this technology, you can sign up with one of the following providers: Sprint, AT&T, or Verizon.

Dell is also committed to protecting the environment. According to the company's Environmental Affairs Manager, Mark Schaffer, it's a business requirement to meet EPEAT Gold certification. Schaffer mentioned that other corporations are following suit. The Dell Latitude D630 retails for a little over $1300.
