How Cable and Wire Management Affects Aesthetics and Performance - Tip 1: Ribbon vs. Rounded Cables

You open up your case and the first thing you notice are those wide, large and flat ribbon cables. Argh! No problem! Rounded cables are the best solution in this case. They will neaten up a case, won't restrict your airflow, and won't occupy so much space inside a case. Rounded cables can be bought from almost any local computer/PC shop, but you can also make them. You can transform your flat ribbon cables into rounded ones. First of all, let's view and compare a standard, large and flat ribbon cable with a rounded one. Check out the following pictures:

There is a huge difference between those two photos, right? Rounded cables are your best bet. This is how rounded cables look; they can be bought from computer shops. Now, how do you make your own? Well, there's an article on Dev Hardware on How to Make Rounded Cables by Jim Miller. Check it out! It's fairly easy; you could transform two hard drive cables and a floppy cable into rounded ones in about half an hour.

For enthusiasts and LAN party animals: don't forget to check local shops for those colorful rounded UV cables to impress your friends and to have an enormously aesthetic and cool case.
