Gotta Have Green Gadgets - Everex Cloudbook P40

Do you get tired of using laptops that create much heat? Or are you tired of feeling the heat on your lap? Well, you can purchase a laptop that uses a low-voltage processor. It’s called the Cloudbook, and is made by Everex.

This product was featured at the Consumer Electronics Show last January. The Cloudbook consumes less energy compared to other laptops on the market. The laptop’s battery lasts approximately five hours. With so many individuals and companies concerned about the environment and energy use, the Cloudbook should inspire other laptop manufacturers to make systems that consume less energy.

As previously stated, the Cloudbook is powered by a very low voltage processor. The Cloudbook uses a VIA 1.6 GHz compared to the 900 MHz Celeron you will find in its competitor’s laptop, Asus’ Eee PC. The Cloudbook also comes with 512 MB of RAM. You can connect this laptop to the Internet, using either wired or wireless technology. It also comes with two USB 2.0 ports, a DVI-out port, and a 4-in-1 card reader.

The Cloudbook is not Energy Star-compliant, but rather RoSH (Reduction of Hazardous Substances) compliant, which is an energy-saver program. The RoSH is a European energy-saver standard. According to Everex’s director of marketing, Paul C. Kim, if the Cloudbook were to be Energy Star-compliant, customers would have to pay about $20 or $30 more for the Cloudbook’s AC adapter. The Cloudbook retails for approximately $399, and you can find it in Wal-mart.
