Creating a Nokia Cell Phone Theme with Carbide.ui - Theme architecture

An S60 theme is made up of a large number of individual elements, of which the following are editable:

    Display background
A theme in fact has two backgrounds: active and idle. The active background is displayed when the phone is in use, the idle background becoming visible when, for example, the phone is locked.

    Colors
The color of just about every theme component may be customized from within the Properties view.

    Areas
Three theme areas are editable: the status area, the main area and the control area. Each of these has a number of editable backgrounds.

It is possible to animate some areas.

    Icons
Theme icons are divided into five main groups: Application, List, Note, Toolbar and Miscellaneous. These are accessible through the Resources view. The interface provides built-in tools for icon color adjustment, or they can be freely altered in standard image editing software.

    Highlights
Highlights add visual interest to a theme. List, Grid and Input highlights can be edited in Carbide.ui

    Pop-up window appearance
An S60 theme contains three types of editable pop-up windows: the General window, the Call handling window and the Lower Screen Area pop-up.
