Animating a Nokia Cell Phone Theme with Carbide.ui - More effects

All of the animation effects discussed in the previous section can be used to modify still images. This is done in exactly the same way as when creating animations, except that the Still tab should be chosen in the Properties pane. Any adjustments made to the effect will be applied statically.

    Audio themes

For S60-based cell phones, audio themes are created independently from standard themes in order to manage the links between phone events and the sounds associated with them. To create an audio theme, choose Create New Theme from the File menu, and then choose S60 Audio Theme for the theme default content. Clicking the Next button in the New Theme window brings up two theme content options: the Phone Type template and the initial data, if any, that should be included in the theme. Once you've chosen suitable settings here, click Finish to create the new theme.

As can be seen from this grab, audio themes are displayed quite differently from graphical themes in the Carbide.ui interface, consisting of just a list of phone conditions and events, and the sounds that are associated with them. To change the sound connected to a condition or event, simply right-click on it, choose Browse from the context menu, and then select the desired audio file. The Properties pane provides further options for managing how the sound is used.

The only other significant feature of the audio theme window is the Text to Speech (TTS) editor, which is available from its own tab. This makes localization of TTS elements simple, allowing straightforward associations to be made between text and synthesized speech in a wide variety of languages.
