Vizio VP422 Flat-panel TV/Monitor - Design
(Page 2 of 4 )
According to Vizio , the VP422 is "designed for maximum versatility." The website claims that it serves all of the needs of a home theater by offering 3-HDMI (v1.3) inputs, an RGB (VGA) input, and an HD Component input. The television also sports a 178 degree viewing angle and the ability to be mounted on your wall.
The television comes in a high gloss black finish that has been fairly common in most of the recent plasma televisions. Below the display is a glowing Vizio logo that is orange while the television is off and switches to white when it is on. There is no option to remove the glow from the logo, but the white is fairly unobtrusive while you are watching the television. Underneath, the speakers are finished in a black matte rather than gloss, which you can take as good or bad depending on your preferences.
The remote control that comes with the television is somewhat short and fat in comparison with many of the long and narrow remotes that are being released with modern HD televisions. This may be a preference thing or it might just be that the VP422 does not have enough features to warrant a longer controller. The finish on the controller is very similar to the one on the television, so at least the two match each other in style. The main element of the controller is the menu navigation, with a menu button and arrows. It also contains the standard controls such as channel and volume.
The built-in menu on the TV is pretty standard and offers enough features for you to be happy. Because there are not as many features as in some of the higher-end televisions, the menu is relatively easy to navigate. This can be taken as a good thing in that you will not spend a lot of time looking for what you want in the menu. However, it is also a symptom of the fact that you just do not have as many options for customizing your television as you might like.
