ViewSonic VX2245wm - Final Thoughts
I have to admit that, at first glance, I wasn't very optimistic about the ViewSonic VX2245wm ViewDock flat panel, because it almost seems that ViewSonic hopes to sell this monitor based upon the built-in iPod docking station feature alone. After taking a look at it, though, I see that it is much more than just a novelty. The picture quality is very good for a standard-definition monitor, and it also has an abundance of USB ports in convenient locations. I also love the fact that it sports an 8-in-one media card reader.

It just seems to me that the VX2245wm is targeted at such a specific niche that it may not be profitable for ViewSonic. Some people may find this monitor to be exactly what they have been looking for. Some people will find that the built-in iPod dock will help to keep their desks more organized by eliminating the need for the iPod-included dock. For this small number of people, I highly recommend this monitor. For people who don't have an iPod, I obviously do not recommend this monitor.
You can pick up one of these beauties for about $370, currently. At this price, this monitor is a good deal for those people who fit the "M.O." described in this review. For other people not interested in the iPod dock capabilities of this monitor, I would recommend checking out similarly priced Dell UltraSharp models or Samsung SyncMaster models, both of which are very good quality lines. Both of these lines of LCD monitors have, for the most part, higher quality displays with better brightness and resolution.
