Sony Bravia KDL-52EX700 - Bravia Additional Features

Users that are conscious of the environment and their monthly electric bill will love the plethora of energy saving features that come with the Sony Bravia KDL-52EX700. Of course, the television is Energy Star compliant, but it brings more to the table than just that.

There is an Energy Saving Switch that can be used to turn the set off completely so that it hardly uses any electricity at all. There is also an option that will reduce the television's overall brightness to conserve energy. If you just want to have the sound on in the background, you can do so manually by turning off the video.

Even better is a Presence Sensor, which will detect movement within the room. If there is no movement within the specified amount of time, the video will turn off and sound will remain off. If there is still no movement after that, the television will shut off completely, allowing you to save energy in the event that you forget to turn the set off manually.

Besides the typical television programming and DVD watching, the Bravia KDL-52EX700 offers some entertainment extras in the way of its interactive features and Bravia Internet Video. To get the interactive features you will have to connect to the Internet via an Ethernet cord, as the KDL-52EX700 lacks Wi-Fi. Of course, if you want Wi-Fi connectivity, you will have to fork over extra cash for a wireless dongle.

Once connected you can access a wide variety of options from providers such as Netflix, Amazon Video on Demand, YouTube, and more. This is a great feature to have if you want to be able to watch movies and other video content immediately via streaming.

Picture quality is not equal to that of DVDs, but you at least have the option for some other methods of entertainment at your disposal. If you don't wish to use the subscription services, you can stream your own content to the KDL-52EX700 in the form of music, videos, and photos from other computers that are connected to the same network, or do it via USB connection.
