Sharp LC-32D47UT and the Panasonic TC-P54S1 - Power, Connectivity and Design

The LC-32D47UT is also eco-friendly; it comes with some power saving options that not only help conserve energy, but can help you save a little bit of money when it comes to your monthly electric bill. Since the unit comes with an integrated ambient light sensor, the television can sense changes in room lighting and lower the television's brightness accordingly when necessary. Otherwise, you can select the power saving option that caps the television's brightness at a certain level to conserve energy. The LC-32D47UT is also Energy Star compliant.

The overall look of the Sharp LC-32D47UT is one that is similar to many competing entry-level LCDs currently on the market. It sports a glossy black bezel that is pretty basic with the exception of its bottom panel, which has a swooping, curved edge that is coated in gray, which gives the television more of a streamlined look.

The LC-32D47UT is supported by a thick neck that rests on a rectangular base, both of which are also glossy black in color. Unfortunately, the television does not swivel on its stand. Physical controls for power, channel, volume, and menu access reside on the lower right side of the LC-32D47UT.

Connectivity is quite impressive. The back panel houses two HDMI ports, a VGA port for PC connections, a RF input, two component video jacks, a S-video jack, an optical digital audio output, and an analog audio output. The right side panel houses an extra HDMI port and a composite video connection.

Although it does have some picture issues with regards to its color accuracy, the Sharp LC-32D47UT is still a solid choice as an entry-level LCD. It provides deep black levels as well as good connectivity and picture adjustability. It's priced reasonably enough that it at least warrants a solid look when shopping for a new 32-inch LCD.
