Samsung 2333HD and the LG Flatron E2350V - Samsung Features and Design

Settings are mostly the standard fare, although you might confuse the 2333HD for an actual HDTV considering how similar the interface and adjustments look to one another. There are typical adjustments for contrast, brightness, and sharpness. Other video settings include a MagicBright option that optimizes brightness, gamma correction, and contrast automatically, as well as a MagicColor feature that will adjust the color to give you natural skin tones on-screen or for overall enhancement.

You can also adjust the color effect and the image size to either 5:4 or 4:3. An audio menu also exists, where you can select from different sound modes such as Standard, Music, Movie, Speech, and Custom. The audio menu grants you access to an equalizer as well.

An added feature that makes the 2333HD seem more like an HDTV than a monitor is that it has a TV tuner built in. This allows you to plug your cable into the monitor and view programming as if it was a regular television.

As with most Samsung televisions and monitors, the 2333HD has an attractive design. The 23-inch display is surrounded by a glossy black bezel. The curved bottom bezel has a piece of transparent material that extends over the edge to give the monitor a modern look. When the monitor is in use, this piece of material turns blue in color to add to the aesthetics of the monitor.

The panel itself is about 2.7 inches thick in total, and the monitor can be mounted to a wall if you wish. If not, it rests on a glossy black oval footstand. Unfortunately, the 2333HD is lacking when it comes to ergonomics. The height is not adjustable, and you cannot pivot or swivel the monitor. All you can do is tilt it backward 15 degrees. Luckily, the screen itself has a matte finish, so glare is not a problem in bright environments.

Connectivity options on the 2333HD are quite good. This is particularly due to its two HDMI ports. The back panel houses a DVI port, a VGA port, an HDMI port, a component port, standard and digital audio out ports, and the cable connection to watch television. The left panel has a small area that houses the second HDMI port as well as a headphone jack.

Although the Samsung 2333HD is lacking in terms of ergonomics, it is a solid all-around monitor. Its connectivity is excellent, the design is attractive, it has a TV tuner, and it offers good performance, making it a monitor worth purchasing.
