Panasonic Viera TH-50PZ850U Television - Design

The Panasonic Viera TH-50PZ850U boasts a highly attractive design that can complement any room in which it is placed. The TH-50PZ850U measures 49.9 inches wide by 33.4 inches high by 15.3 inches deep including its stand, and weighs in at 92.6 pounds. Like most other HDTVs, the TH-50PZ850U is defined by a glossy black border that outlines its impressive screen.

Its pictures do not do it justice, as the TH-50PZ850U looks even more impressive in person. The glossy black border is slightly raised from the screen and gives the television an elegant framed look. Beneath the screen is the company logo, and a small compartment which disguises a set of hidden inputs beneath that are enclosed by a small door.

The Viera TH-50PZ850U is held up courtesy of a solid rectangular stand that you can swivel to accommodate your location in the viewing area of your household. There is no change from predecessors in terms of the remote control that comes with the TH-50PZ850U, but this is a good thing. The backlit remote is intuitive and easy to use thanks to its layout and the size of its buttons,  determined according to relevance of the commands they reflect.

Like most high end Plasma televisions, the TH-50PZ850U is loaded with several connectivity options. There are three HDMI jacks on the back panel of the TH-50PZ850U, and one more located on the front. The TH-50PZ850U also boasts two component video inputs, an RF input for antenna or cable, an AV input with composite or S video, and an optical and analog audio output. The front panel of inputs also includes another AV input with composite and S video, and an SD card slot that allows you to display your digital photos on the TH-50PZ850U's large screen.

You can view more that just digital photos on your TH-50PZ850U as well, thanks to the a card slot that allows for playback of MPEG-2 and AVCHD video files. You can connect your computer to the Viera TH-50PZ850U courtesy of a VGA style PC input that supports a maximum resolution of 1,366x760. Viera Cast, Panasonic's new feature that allows you to have certain Internet capabilities on your big screen, can be used on the TH-50PZ850U via the LAN port. You can also use a wireless adapter for Internet connectivity to your TH-50PZ850U. Panasonic has not yet made their own wireless adapter for this feature, but most wireless adapters on the market should work just fine.
