NEC Accusync LCD193wxm Flat Panel Review - Design
(Page 2 of 5 )
The design of the Accusync LCD193wxm screams simplicity. NEC has cloaked this flat panel in a black, matte finish, and I believe that black is the only color that is available for this monitor. As I mentioned earlier, this flat panel sports a 19 inch LCD screen. This is the smallest screen in the Accusync series by NEC, with the others measuring in at 20 inches and 22 inches.
The display controls are all conveniently located on the front-lower panel, and they control the brightness, contrast, colors, etc. There is also a button which allows the user to switch between two different video inputs which can be DVI-D and VGA. This monitor allows for digital or analog inputs. The controls are easily accessible and work sufficiently well. There is also wire holder located on the back of the device which holds all of the cables together nicely.

The screen on the LCD193wxm is not very adjustable compared to its competition. You can adjust the screen up and down at a 176 degree vertical angle. The base of the monitor feels pretty solid, and there are not any balancing issues associated with it.
The front of the monitor also sports two front-firing speakers built-in to the front
panel. This a great feature to have, and it is nice to have the speakers on the front of the monitor, as some flat panels place them on the rear of the monitor for some reason. Another nice little feature located on the front of the monitor is a headphone jack. NEC has located this jack in a good, accessible spot.
The size of this Accusync is good, measuring in at 17.6 x 14.7 x 7.7 inches with the stand included. The monitor weighs in at about 9.5 pounds, and the stand will add an additional 2.5 pounds to this figure. The size and weight of this monitor is great, and will make an ideal replacement for anyone's bulky CRT monitor.

The overall design of this flat panel fits nicely with the general theme of this monitor: simplicity. It doesn't get much simpler than this, and that could be a big bonus for people who don't know much about flat panels or don't want all the fancy frills associated with more complex flat panels.
