    LG 50PS80 Plasma Television

The 50PS80 is a 50-inch HD 1080p plasma television from LG whose main attraction is its interactive features. If you really enjoy flexibility when it comes to entertainment, then the 50PS80 is for you. Let's take a closer look at what it offers.

By giving you the capability to access popular services like Netflix and Vudu right through the screen, the 50PS80 has an added appeal to many who want more than just a television. That’s not to say that it doesn’t perform like one should, though, as it comes with tons of adjustability options for those who are really picky when it comes to picture as well as excellent connectivity.

Add all that to decent performance and an excellent design, and you have yourself a television that you might want to consider adding to your home entertainment center. It has a suggested retail price of $1,600, although you can probably find it in the $1,300 range, if not lower.

Before we get to the exciting interactive features, let’s discuss more of the standard fare that you would expect in a television. The LG 50PS80 is first and foremost a large-screened HDTV. Its overall picture quality is decent, although not the best on the market when compared to other plasmas. While it does produce accurate color, its black levels are not as dark as many might like.

Although it does not produce the most perfect picture, the 50PS80 does provide plenty of adjustability options accessible through its user-friendly menu interface. This should make picture-tweaking fanatics rejoice.

Even if you are not an expert at adjusting picture settings, you can do so easily on the 50PS80 with its Picture Wizard. The Picture Wizard allows users to go through a step-by-step process complete with on-screen directions to get the best picture possible by adjusting the backlight, brightness, color, tint, contrast and sharpness. The Picture Wizard shows graphics of how your picture should look and allows you to gradually adjust the settings until you match the recommended on-screen suggestions. Finally, it saves your settings for future use. This smart program pretty much takes all of the guesswork out of tweaking the picture for those who may be too gun-shy to mess with the settings.
