HP W2207 LCD Monitor - Performance

The w2207 really sparkles in the performance category, beating out the competition in almost every aspect. The screen itself shows accurate colors thanks to the 1680 x 1050 high resolution, and images appear crystal clear. In a recent test involving the w2207 along with its closest competitors, the w2207 beat out the competition in contrast ratio and in brightness categories. So needless to say, this flat panel may be the best available monitor currently available in this price range when looking at image quality.

The w2207 also performs pretty well in terms of limiting the amount of streaking and ghosting during movies and video games. This flat panel only shows very minimal amounts of ghosting during fast-action sequences. HP claims that the response time of this monitor is 5 milliseconds which is extremely fast. I would recommend this flat panel for gaming, although hardcore gamers may want to check out higher end flat panels which totally eliminate ghosting during game play. These higher end models often have response times of under 5 milliseconds.

The performance of the w2207 is tough to beat for $360. This flat panel will work well to watch movies, but it will not replace an HD television. This monitor isn't quite up to the speed of a TV, but it works great to watch videos clips and to play video games. It is basically a good all-around performer that would be perfect for the average computer user looking for a widescreen monitor for under $400.

    Summary

The Hewlett Packard w2207 LCD flat panel monitor is a quality monitor with great performance.  The price tag of around $360 makes this monitor a great entry-level flat panel that is sure to please even the toughest critics. The design of the w2207 is very ergonomic, and it is very pleasing to the eye. The screen can operate in landscape or portrait mode. This monitor is HDCP-compliant, and it produces amazingly accurate images for the relatively low price tag.

I do not have any major problems with this monitor. The only minor problem that I see with this flat panel is the location of the speakers on the back of the screen.  This just doesn't make sense to me, because it sends the sound away from the person instead of towards them. There is also a bug in the software that should be fixed very soon, so it is not something that needs to be worried about.

The performance of the w2207 is the best in its class. That is where this monitor really shines, and performance is probably the most important thing to look at when purchasing a new flat panel monitor. So the fact that the w2207 is such a good performer should help sales in a big way.

I would recommend this monitor to anyone looking for their first widescreen flat panel. It is a great way to enter the flat panel market, because the monitor is solid in every aspect. This may not be the right fit for hardcore gamers, but for the average computer user it is perfect.
