Gateway XHD3000 30 LCD Monitor with Quad-HD Technology - Design and Styling
(Page 2 of 4 )
Design and Styling
The XHD3000 has a very sleek and uncluttered look to it. You won't find a ton of buttons and controls along the glossy black bezel. Instead, when you press a menu button, a menu screen pops up and allows you to alter everything from brightness to black level. The included EZ-tune software works like a charm. When the menu pops up on the screen, it activates some hidden blue-lit buttons along the bottom of the glossy black bezel, which is a great design feature and very sexy. I can't say enough about the look of this flat panel. Gateway was at the top of their game when designing the look and functionality of the XHD3000.

The display sits atop a relatively sturdy base, and the screen will tilt and swivel 178 degrees for the best viewing angle possible. The screen is not adjustable vertically, though. The physical dimensions of the XHD3000 are 17 x 22 x 1.5 inches (approximately), and the entire unit weighs about 30 pounds. It's a rather heavy monitor, but then again its not made to be mobile, so the weight shouldn't be a problem for consumers.
The screen itself is 30 inches diagonally, and it sports a very nice anti-glare coating. Gateway markets this monitor as a "Quad-HD" monitor, which means that you can watch four separate sub-screens in HD quality resolution at the same time. The display also features a PIP feature, which is viewable in HD quality as well.
The business end of this flat panel is where you will find the array of inputs, which really separates this monitor from the competition. Here is a list of the available inputs: composite, VGA, DVI (single or dual), S-video, HDMI, component, and 6 USB ports. The variety of input options allow you to connect a broad range of devices to the monitor, allowing for greater flexibility.

The last design feature that I would like to mention is the integrated speaker system positioned along the bottom of the front of this monitor. This Gateway DXP sound system is unlike any other built-in speaker system. There are eight speakers integrated into this design, and they create a relatively good sound experience. This speaker system will not replace a good aftermarket system, but it is more than sufficient for normal use. By the way, if you would like to hook up a better aftermarket speaker system to this monitor, it is very easy via the coaxial or digital optical output connections. There are also two headphone jacks built into this monitor.
