The Samsung SyncMaster 2233SW is a 22-inch LCD monitor with good looks that should satisfy a casual audience. It’s not the best monitor on the market, but for its price, it certainly provides good value. You can pick up the SyncMaster 2233SW for around $190, and it comes with a three-year warranty on parts and labor. The SyncMaster 2233SW has a 1,920x1,080 resolution and a 16:9 aspect ratio. Its full 1080p classification makes it a solid device for watching HD movies, although its picture is lacking to an extent. This lack is particularly present in the form of the display’s overall brightness, which is a bit dark when compared with other monitors. The display does provide good color accuracy, though, and produces dark black levels that are useful when watching movies. The monitor works equally well for gaming fans, too.

The adjustment settings on the SyncMaster 2233SW are pretty basic and accessible via the on-screen display, which is not the best in its class, but is still serviceable. The OSD is enabled by a grouping of buttons on the lower right side of the monitor. You get six picture preset modes: Text, Internet, Game, Movie, Sport, and Custom. In addition to the presets, you also get basic adjustment options for contrast and brightness. An option also exists to change the overall color effect, which includes four different settings: Grayscale, Green, Aqua, and Sepia.
