Top Five DSLR Cameras for 2008 - Pentax K20D

The Pentax K20D is a tough camera that can withstand water, dirt, and dust, while still taking extremely accurate photos. This 14.6 MP DSLR camera may not be as popular as its competitors, but it certainly can hang with them when it comes to image quality. The K20D will take very good quality photos all the way up to ISO 1600, which is where the quality starts fading a bit. This is much better than other cameras where the image quality starts to fade at around ISO 800.

The K20D features an 11-point AF system, Live View mode, sensor shift image stabilization, and a 2.7-inch display with 170-degree viewing angle. The body of the K20D weighs less than two pounds with the battery and SD card installed.

It's tough to beat the excellent image quality of which this camera is capable. In a recent test conducted by PopPhoto, they tested the image quality of the K20D. The results showed that the K20D produces excellent image quality and resolution throughout the ISO range. Color accuracy was also excellent.

The Pentax K20D has just recently hit store shelves with a retail price tag of about $1,299 (body only). The K20D is compatible with any type of Pentax lens. The only minor flaw of the K20D is the somewhat slow burst speeds of less than 3 fps. So this camera would be perfect for someone who is looking for the ultimate in image quality and overall camera toughness, but does not consider camera speed a high priority.
