Top 4 Compact Digital Cameras from PMA 2008 - Canon Powershot SD1100 IS
(Page 5 of 5 )
The newest addition to Canon's SD-line of compacts is the SD1100 IS. This camera will easily fit in the palm of your hand and very much resembles the SD1000, except the new model is much sleeker with smoother edges. The new SD1100 has much of the same features that you'd expect to find in other Canon SD-compacts.

This little guy features 8 MP resolution, 3x optical zoom, and will come in five new color choices. This model features the same DIGIC III processor as its predecessors, which is definitely a good thing, because this is one of the quickest and most efficient processors on the market right now. So why mess with a good thing, right? The SD1100 will offer 18 shooting modes, including automatic modes. Also, it will feature face detection that can detect up to nine faces. And the SD1100 is able to lock onto one face and follow that face, even when it moves.

This compact is sure to be one of the top sellers this year, and rightfully so. While it may not have as many of the features as the other cameras in this review have, it is also the most compact. And of course, it's a Canon, so you know you're getting a quality camera with good performance and image quality.
The Canon Powershot SD1100 IS was expected to be available sometime in March, 2008. This camera will be packaged with a 32 MB memory card (pretty much worthless – especially for recording video) for approximately $250, which is the least expensive of the four cameras in this review. I almost always recommend Canon cameras, and this one is no different. I can't wait to do a full review of this one – stay tuned for that later this year!
