Sony Cybershot DSC-T2 Compact Digital Camera - Features

    Features

The Cybershot DSC-T2 does have a good set of features packed into its little body. The biggest feature of the T2 is the 4 GB of built-in memory, which allows for up to 40,000 VGA-quality photos or 1,000 8 megapixel photos. There are some other impressive features in the T2 including face detection, photo sharing, Sony SteadyShot, movie mode, HD output, and more.

Face Detection with Smile Shutter Feature

Sony's face detection technology is very highly evolved. This feature will automatically seek out up to 8 different faces in a photo and focus in on them. You also have the option of focusing in on just one subject in a photo by simply touching that face on the T2's display.

Sony's new smile shutter feature works alongside the face detection technology to capture smiling faces in a shot. With this feature enabled, the Sony DSC-T2 will automatically take a shot when it detects a face smiling. The technology is relatively new, and it acts that way. Although this feature isn't perfected yet by Sony, it still works well at times and is something to look forward to in future digital cameras.

    Photo Sharing/Organization

The DSC-T2's new scrapbook feature allows the user to choose from 16 designs to create a scrapbook filled with images in the camera. You also have the ability to utilize 8 different visual effects, including filters, to adjust the look of images. There is also a paint feature, which lets you use the stylus like a paint brush on the display. It is not very useful, but is still a cool feature to have in some cases. Other organization options include custom photo albums, and you can also tag photos with sharemarks for automatic resizing and uploading to websites such as Flickr and YouTube.

Overall, the organization of images is really good with this camera. With up to 40,000 potential photos in the camera at any one time, organization is crucial. You can view photos in your "favorites" folder or other user-specified folders. You can also view images in chronological order, which includes a nice calendar view for a unique way of viewing photos in your camera.

    Sony SteadyShot Technology

Sony SteadyShot technology is on par with Canon's Image Stabilization (IS) as one of the top two "camera-shake" minimizing systems in the compact digital camera market. SteadyShot is very useful when zoomed in close to an object. This feature helps to greatly reduce blurriness, due to camera-shake, when taking photos.

    HD Movie Mode

The Sony DSC-T2 will take 640 x 480 video with sound at 30 frames per second. This is pretty much DVD quality video. You have the option of playing back videos on the camera, transferring video to your computer, or playing it on a TV. You have the option of playing back video in full HD quality, but you do need to purchase an HD component cable for this to work. The DSC-T2 will also play customized slide shows, with music, on a standard or HD television.
