Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-T100 - Features
The T100 is filled with the features you would expect from a high-end ultra-compact camera. The lens of this camera is equivalent to 35mm-175mm with 5x optical zoom. The T100's predecessor only had 3x optical zoom, so this is a big improvement for Sony. The lens is very accurate and takes great photos, even in low light situations where it is capable of sensitivity levels up to ISO 3200. Also commendable on this camera is the 9-point auto focus feature, which is very useful and will help amateur photographers greatly by focusing the lens more efficiently than could be done manually.
The T100 also offers Sony's Super SteadyShot image stabilization, which helps to minimize camera shake during shots. This is a great feature to have when you are zoomed all the way in on an object and camera shake is very evident. The T100 is also able to use its face detection technology to focus on up to eight faces in a shot for better quality group photos. This technology is also used in other cameras, such as the Canon SD800 IS.
Sony introduces its Bionz image processor for the first time in a compact digital camera in the T100. Sony claims that this processor will improve image quality, faster performance, and better battery life. I believe that this processor has accomplished all of these goals, because the T100 has improved in all of these categories over its predecessor.
The T100 comes equipped with 31 megabytes of memory built in, as well as a slot for a memory card. This camera is powered by a lithium-ion rechargeable battery. The battery will last for well over 300 shots under normal shooting conditions. This is quite good, considering many of the T100's competitors don't reach the 300 mark before needing a charge.
The Sony Cyber-Shot DSC T100 comes with the following straight from the box:
Sony DSC-T100 camera
Wrist strap
USB/AV multiconnector cable
NP-BG1 Info-Lithium battery pack
Battery charger
Software CD
Instruction manual, and registration card

This package comes with everything you need to get started taking pictures, but I would recommend purchasing some additional accessories, including a Memory Stick Pro Duo, a protective case, and possible an HD cable. A 2GB memory stick will run an additional $25, while a 4GB stick will be just under $50. A protective case is a good idea with this camera; the large LCD can get scratched easily because of its size. A protective case is really inexpensive, and will pay off in the long run with a longer lasting camera. The T100 is capable of producing HD images which users can display on their televisions. If this is something you may be interested in, you must purchase a separate HD cable that will run you just under $40.
