Pentax K200D Camera Review - Performance Continued
(Page 4 of 4 )
The battery life of the Pentax K200D is impressive. The manufacturer claims that you can take up to 1100 shots on a set of 4AA lithium batteries if you do not use flash, or 550 shots if you used flash half the time. The K200D also has an optional battery grip, something absent from earlier Pentax entry level models, that you can use for even more battery life.
In terms of picture quality, the Pentax K200D delivers on par with others in its class when taking pictures in its default modes. The photos delivered from the default mode picture-taking were rich and vibrant. Where the K200D has its competitors beat. though, is its in-camera control for JPEG processing. In each color mode you can change the brightness, sharpness, contrast, and saturation, a feature not common in most other entry level DSLRs.

While the Pentax K200D may not look like much on the outside, you should not judge a book by its cover. The K200D delivers smooth and high quality images. It is a ruggedly built camera, although some may argue it is too big, and its weatherproof design is a definite plus.
The lack of live view mode is a negative and the K200D may not shoot as fast as others, but the 11 point auto focus system helps make up for it. The Pentax K200D may lack some features of other entry level DSLRs, but it is also hundreds of dollars cheaper, thus making it a good choice for those looking to get the best bang for their buck.
