Olympus W-10 Review - Testing/Samples
Aside from taking a few voice clips and pictures, I decided to record some music on this machine. After all, you never know where you might hear a catchy tune you want to record. A lot of people who play musical instruments might use the W-10 for recording music as well. It makes it easier to practice when you can hear a recording of your own sound.
I decided to give this thing the benefit of the doubt and record some classical music to see the quality of reproduction. Because of the skimpy frequency range, I was afraid that the music would simply sound horrible. On the contrary, when taped at the HQ setting with a range of 300 to 5800HZ, it sounded okay for a voice recorder.
These are the sound clips I decided to record:
Sound file 1
Sound file 2
Sound File 3
As you can hear from the samples, it is not bad at all for a recorder that is not meant to be used for recording music.
These are the voice samples:
Voice file 1
Voice file 2
Voice file 3
And these are the picture samples:

Image sample from my cell phone (LG VX6000)

As you can see, the outdoor picture on my cell phone is actually worse than the one off of the W-10. The one taken with the Olympus is sharper and looks like it has more color.
