Logitech QuickCam Sphere/Orbit MP Review - Nice Visuals

The camera is a true 1.3 megapixel camera for live 640 by 480 pixel video and gives the people you are video conferencing with a good quality image. As with the anti-echoing capabilities, the picture of yourself captured by the camera is of more use to others than to yourself but in a professional setting, such as an office where it pays to present a professional image of yourself and your company, the better quality image your chat buddies see, the better impression you give.

The software contains a propriety image enhancing facility called RightLight 2 which helps to improve low light saturation or low light levels, and helps cut video noise. You can also switch this setting off and set these options manually; you even have control over the metering. There is a light behind me where I sit at my computer and I have found that the RightLight setting does help to give a clearer picture; with the setting switch off, my image gets very dark, so as with the RightSound controls, this is a valuable feature that works well.

You can also capture stills with the camera but instead of 1.3 Mp at 640 x 480 px, you get a software boost to 4 Mp with the ability to capture sizes up to 1280 by 960 pixels. This is handy for taking quick snapshots of yourself for your blog or whatever but couldn't really replace a dedicated digital camera of course.
