Logitech QuickCam Sphere/Orbit MP Review - Sound Secrets
(Page 2 of 6 )
Aesthetically it's very pleasing; the base is quite large for a web cam, but it's finished in soft-touch plastic and looks serious and professional. The head of the cam features the lens and has a slightly reflective cover under the clear plastic face that hides all but a vertical strip of the inner circuitry. The part left exposed is to enable the lens to move up and down on the vertical plane.

The device features a built-in microphone which picks up your voice well considering its small size. I usually sit around two feet away from it and the people I chat with can hear me loud and clear. As well as via the operating system (Windows XP Pro in this case), you also have full control over the microphone in the Logitech software. There is also a handy mute button for the microphone on the floating cam toolbox so that you can quickly blank out anything you don't want included in your instant messaging chat.
Logitech have also come up with something called RightSound that enables you to use the integrated microphone without having to wear a headset. It uses acoustic echo cancellation to ensure that the microphone doesn't pick up the voice of the person that's talking to you and play it back to them. It doesn't actually improve your experience, but people that you chat to won't experience issues with their sound, and it means that multiple people at your end can speak to someone without having to pass the headset around.
