Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-W80 (est. $220)
The W80 was released by Sony in early 2007 as the highest ranked W-series camera on the market. The W-series cameras by Sony do not offer many of the features of the T-series cameras, but they do offer a lower price tag. Many people find the simplicity of the W80 to be very desirable.

The W80's body comes in a variety of colors and is relatively small at 3.6 x 0.9 x 2.3 inches. It weighs in at only 4.4 ounces. The W80 sports a nice-sized 2.5 inch LCD display, as well as an optical viewfinder. This model has a 7.2 mega-pixel Super HAD CCD.
Some of the main features of the W80 include optical image stabilization, 3x optical zoom, ISO 3200 capabilities, and face-detection technologies. The W80 features a very innovative menu system which resembles that of the PSP.
The image quality in the W80 is great up to ISO 800. Pictures appear very crisp and clean, and the colors are very accurate. I was most impressed with the speed of this camera. Recent tests have shown that typical shot-to-shot times are about 1.2 seconds. This means that you won't miss very many photo opportunities, due to slow processing times, with this camera.
This camera is a very simple choice with all of the features you would need in an ultracompact digital camera. If you need an ultra-quick camera which takes great photos, this may be the camera for you.
