The Dazzle Digital Video creator accomplished what I had expected, which wasn't very much, but this product is not for everyone. It is very misleading when they say you can have “Hollywood” quality videos; you lose a lot of quality when you transfer your video. This product, like every product, has its ups and its downs. Let's go over a few.
No directions to tell you how to use any of the software.
Software was not as easy to use as implied.
Poor quality from the VCR.
Very poor quality from a digital video camera.
Audio did not work most of the time.
When the audio did work, it was out of sync with mouth movement.
Not reliable enough; some color tapes recorded as black and white.
Maximum resolution is still too small.
As the resolution got larger, the quality got worse.
Takes a very long time to render a 10 minute movie, and seemingly forever for a full VHS tape.
As you can see, I did not have a pleasant time with this because of all the problems I ran into. But if you are looking for something just to transfer your old camcorder tapes onto DVDs, this will get the job done. Users of digital video cameras will need to look elsewhere unless they don't care about their video quality -- and I doubt that there is someone out there who doesn't care about video quality. Most people pay for expensive digital video cameras in part because they do care about video quality.
If you want good quality video, you can look for newer versions of this product available from Dazzle or look for one made by competitors. Otherwise, you might look into getting a video card that has video-in or some other device for your computer that provides video-in capabilities.
