Dazzle Digital Video Creator - Installation
(Page 4 of 5 )
Installing the hardware was anything but difficult. It's just a matter of plugging the RCA cables in the right slots. I think anyone can do this because there are only so many combinations that can be plugged in. If you don't get it the first time, just keep trying. You'll get it eventually.
Please note, though, that the RCA Cables and S-Video Cables are not included with the DVC 80. You can go to just about any kind of electronics store (such as RadioShack) and get an RCA cable or an S-Video cable for the video and an RCA cable with a splitter on it for the left and right audio. Still, it would have been nice if Dazzle had included these cables, since the company is trying to make its product easy to use.

Insert the installation CD

If the CD does not automatically open, go to My Computer and click the disc. Follow the ubiquitous InstallShield wizard.

After the software is installed, restart the computer. If a prompt does not come up asking you to restart, you should do so anyway.
You probably should double check to make certain that all of the cables are connected properly. If they are not connected right, you will find out shortly when you try to use the product.
Now we're ready to use the software.
I started with something basic. With everything connected and the USB cord plugged into the computer, it was easy to see what recording device I had connected to my computer. I used the MovieStar 5 software that was included.

First, click Capture on the top left, and then select the video device (DVC 80) and the file location. Next, turn on the device that holds your recording. In my case, it was my camcorder from the early 90s. I made the camcorder play the tape inside, and it showed up on the LCD screen of the camera. In less than a second, the video leaped onto the computer screen. In a fraction of a second, you can have your first birthday, Uncle Steve's wedding, or your trip to Disney World right on your computer screen. It's that simple.
