Casio Exilim EX-V7 Review - Features

One of the main features of this camera is the CCD shift stabilization system, which is supposed to work with Casio's anti-shake DSP to deter blurriness of moving objects and camera shake. This system works okay, but not great, and not as well as its competitors. This feature can be set on auto, which is nice, so that the camera detects a moving object or camera shake and attempts to correct it by increasing the shutter speeds.

The EX-V7 offers adjustable ISO settings from 64 all the way up to 1600, and it also has an auto mode so the camera detects the best level for a particular shot.  It also offers a large number of scene modes. This is nothing new for Casio, and in the EX-V7 they have integrated 33 of these scene modes and 10 movie "best shot" modes. Some of these are actually pretty cool and can be useful. These scene modes can be used in specific situations to optimize the shot automatically with preset parameters already programmed into the camera.

The EX-V7 also gives the user four shooting programs including portrait, scenery, night scene, and night scene portrait.  There are also eight special effects that can be applied to images to give a custom and unique look to the color of the image.  White balance can be set by the user, using preset parameters, or automatically.

The built-in flash is effective up to about eight feet. There are also five preset flash modes that the user can choose from including red-eye reduction.  Also integrated into this camera is a self-timer.  The timer can be set to two or 10 seconds.

A great feature that comes included with the EX-V7 is the cradle station. The cradle station serves multiple purposes for this camera. When the camera is docked into the cradle station, the battery begins charging. With the camera docked in the station, it can also be used as a photo station where a slide show of images can be displayed. You can also use the USB port to connect to a printer or computer for printing or transferring images. Lastly, you can use the audio/video output to view images and movies directly on a television. This cradle station is a great feature that is included straight from the box.  Here is a list of all of the items that are included with the purchase of this camera:

    Exilim EX-V7 7.2MP Digital Camera

    • Rechargeable Lithium-ion Battery
    • USB Cradle
    • USB Cable
    • AV Cable
    • Special AC Adapter
    • AC Power Cord
    • Strap
    • CD-ROM
    • Casio Warranty

The camera comes with 11.6 MB of memory, so you'll definitely have to purchase a separate 2 or 4 GB SD memory card.
