Canon PowerShot SD890 IS - Features
The greatest features of the SD890 are its impressive 5x optical zoom (accompanied by a 4x digital zoom which can be reduced or removed through settings) and 10 megapixel shooting resolution. Backed with quality technology, these features allow users a great deal of power that they do not typically get from a point-and-shoot camera. The SD890 renders very good pictures in conditions that make many other cameras fall behind.

Many of the SD890’s features lie in its built-in image capture software. One of these features is image stabilization. The software has been improved in the SD890 model, and is truly quite impressive. The stabilization is necessary for pictures taken at the longer ranges of the 5x optical zoom, as well as in lower-light settings. The SD890’s capture speed is nothing to boast about, so the image stabilization really helps the camera focus on objects in low light and perform much better than many other models. A similar technology, motion detection, allows for even crisper images from the SD890. Whether an object is moving quickly or the camera is shaking, motion detection technology will account for the movement and correct it automatically.
Another very impressive software feature of the SD890 is its face detection. It can pick out up to thirty faces in a picture and allows you the versatility of picking out one or two to focus on. This is a great feature for anyone looking for a camera for family photos or people in general. Once the camera has picked out a face, it will automatically adjust the balance and lighting of the picture to optimize the conditions for that face. The technology also incorporates red-eye reduction which can be applied when the picture is being taken or afterward, when you are reviewing your pictures.
