Canon PowerShot SD790 IS

The PowerShot SD790 IS from Canon is a continuing testament to Canon’s ability to produce quality camera after quality camera. The SD790 is a compact point-and-shoot model with a modest price tag that reflects its goal of affordable high quality photos. Ten megapixels ensures that you will get the quality photo that you want, and the very compact size will allow you to keep that quality in your jeans pocket.

As far as compact cameras go, the SD790 is right up there with the top-of-the-line items. Although 10 MP is not the very best that you will see in the modern market, it is certainly more than enough for anyone who is looking for a compact point-and-shoot. Although the SD790 only offers 3x optical zoom, it does offer some other neat features that are not typically seen on a $300 (according toCanon) compact digital camera.
With the SD790, Canon has developed a new pocket camera design that they define as having "chiseled edges." In reality, the design is a bit simplistic and boxy for many consumers who are fans of sloping faces and curved edges. However, if you are a fan of the SD790's style, it pulls it off well, and you are certain to be happy with the look of your camera. In addition to the body, the 3" high quality LCD screen will allow you to see all the details of your image before you load it on your computer. According to Canon, the screen also offers a remarkably wide viewing angle that should let your friends gather around you to see the group photo.
Overall, if you are looking to spend $300 on a compact digital camera, the SD790 is a pretty good choice. There are certainly strengths and weakness in the camera, but the total package is high quality and good value.
