Canon PowerShot SD10 Review - Features

The SD10 features advanced imaging technology with Canon's exclusive DIGIC and iSAPS technology. The DIGIC Imaging Processor speeds imaging handling, combining the roles of image processing and camera function control into one chip. The result is a more accurate, fluid and natural autofocus. iSAPS is Canon's digital scene-recognition technology which with DIGIC provides faster and more accurate focus and better white balance. Faster display and write times translates into lower power consumption, which is essential for such a powerful yet small digital camera.
The Direct Print feature allows you to connect the SD10 to a Direct Photo Printer with the supplied cable and print images, totally bypassing a computer. This makes it convenient to produce top notch photos without a computer, especially since the SD10 produces images of outstanding clarity, detail, and real-life color on its own (DIGIC and iSAPS). All of Canon's latest printers are compatible Direct Photo printers.
Canon's high-resolution single focus lens and five point AiAF autofocus delivers precise focus automatically. Autofocus can be seen in action on the SD10's LCD display when small boxes are superimposed on top of the image. Still images can be taken at four different resolutions: large: 2272 x 1704, medium 1: 1600 x 1200, medium 2: 1024 x 768,
and small: 640 x 480. There are three JPEG compression levels: Superfine, Fine, and Normal. There is no uncompressed format with the SD10.
Other SD10 features include maximum 5.7x digital zoom, Super Macro Mode, Quick Shot Function, and Movie Mode. The size of the camera restricts even the possibility of optical zoom, but at four megapixels digital zoom doesn't look too bad. Canon's Super Macro Mode supports auto focusing on objects from 1.2 to 4 inches away, providing incredible close-up snaps. The Quick Shot Function allows the SD10 to take shots immediately with no pause or lag by by-passing the autofocus stage, and with Movie Mode the SD10 can record movies with sound for up to 3 minutes at 320x240 or 160x120.
