Affordable HD Camcorders Hit the Market - Sony HDR-SR12

Sony’s HDR-SR12 may be difficult to find at its lowest estimate, which is around $775 , but consumers can be guaranteed that even at its highest of $1,200, an HD camcorder of this magnitude is well worth every penny.

Sony’s HDR-SR12 Handycam HD camcorder delivers an incredible, full HD 1920x1080 HD video package built around an internal 120 GB hard disk drive, which is an enormous amount of space to play around with, even for a camcorder. The video and sound qualities are crystal clear and stunning, and the camcorder’s professional-quality Carl Zeiss Vario-Sonnar T lens and ClearVid CMOS sensor doesn’t hurt the camera’s cause either.

There’s no end to the cutting edge technology featured in this one camera. The HDR-SR12’s Bionz image processor allows users to capture crisp, detailed videos and still images. Additionally, the camera’s Super SteadyShot optical image stabilization feature and its face detection technology help users reduce blur and increase color and contrast, essentially making everyone in every shot look their absolute best. What more can you ask for from an HD camcorder?

As if the camera’s shooting features weren’t impressive enough, Sony’s HDR-SR12 hybrid recording system is also cutting edge. The camera’s hybrid recording technology delivers a new level of flexibility for transferring video footage and digital photos from the camcorder to compatible devices. Users can now record to the HD camcorder’s internal hard disk drive or choose to record to the camera’s removable Memory Stick Duo media or Memory Stick Duo Pro media.

Users can also select from various dubbing functions in order to easily copy video or still images from the hard disk drive to Sony’s patented Memory Stick media -- all without using a PC. Images that have been recorded or transferred to Memory Stick media can then be played directly on a PlayStation 3 or PC, which enables users to easily and conveniently share video and photo memories with their family and friends.

Sony’s HDR-SR12 HD camcorder may be on the more expensive end, especially when considering other models such as Samsung’s SC-HMX10, but it’s definitely one of the best HD camcorders on the market, sure to capture beloved moments flawlessly in either video or photo form.

Cool new gadgets are always fun to have and explore, but when they serve as important of a purpose as preserving precious moments with family and friends, their performance needs to be taken seriously. HD camcorders are becoming increasingly popular and affordable, which ironically makes choosing one all the more difficult.

Some of the HD camcorders featured vary drastically in both performance capabilities, features and price, but they are all excellent devices capable of serving the most basic -- or the most elaborate -- needs. When choosing to commit to such a pricey investment, it’s important to do your homework and make sure you choose the product that best meets your needs.
