Toshiba M35-S320 Laptop Review - Conclusion

Strictly in terms of performance, the M35 is not a desktop replacement. Matched against a 3.06GHz, 1GB dual channel DDR, and 2x40GB RAID0 desktop, the M35 did not come close in the SiSoft Sandra and PCMark2002 tests. While the Go5200 GPU enables the M35 to do some casual gaming, it is not suitable for running games like Halo or FarCry. However, the M35 does strike a home with the home, student, or business power user. Its large display, powerful CPU, graphics, overall mobility, and battery life draws a fine compromise between power and mobility. Multimedia users looking to play DVDs, do some computer programming or web authoring, and play some older games will also be happy with the M35. The integrated Intel 802.11g wireless Ethernet is fast and works flawlessly making browsing the web or accessing a local network through a wireless network possible.

    Toshiba M35-S320 Laptop

The Toshiba Satellite M35-S320 is solid 6.2 pound mainstream notebook. Currently at $1599 after $100 mail-in rebate, the M35 is great for its value. With Intel Centrino mobile technology, Pentium M 1.5GHz processor, 512MB DDR ram, NVIDIA Go5200 graphics, DVD/CD-RW drive, the M35 is a pretty powerful notebook computer. Tagged with an incredible 15.4" WXGA display and an overall pleasing design, the M35 is a great value relative to other notebooks in its price range.

    Highs

    • P4-M 1.5GHz processor is fast

    Lows

    • Notebook base gets really hot

    • Go5200 graphics not suitable for the latest gaming
