Toshiba M35-S320 Laptop Review - Keyboard
(Page 3 of 8 )
Because of the M35's 15.4" WXGA display, there is a lot of space for the keyboard and touch pad. Because of all this room, Toshiba was able to include a few extra buttons on the keyboard that other laptops don't have or do have but are in irregular positions or sizes. Large shift and backspace buttons, print screen and pause break, home, page up, page down, and end buttons are some examples.

Notice how clean and simple the surface is. The two harman/kardon speakers are classy yet unobtrusive. The touch pad and buttons are simple rectangles that match the rest of the surface. The buttons are also not too stiff or not too loose; just right. The silver Centrino and Windows XP badges complement the uncluttered surface very well.

As you can see in the image above, from top to bottom is the power button, SD card slot light, hard disk drive light, wireless antenna indicator, disc activity light, TV-out button, Toshiba Console button, and Internet button.
Looking at the open notebook from an angle, we see how flat the keyboard and notebook surface really is, as well as the contrast created by the M35's black and silver theme.

The keyboard buttons have a very nice springy feel; they are not mushy like some other laptop keyboards. And once again, the keyboard layout is better than other laptops that I've seen. Overall the Toshiba M35's exterior deserves an A+. Due to the size of the display, the notebook is obviously pretty large. But Toshiba managed to keep the M35 slim, and make it appear even slimmer with its choice of colors. The ports built into the sides of the M35 are easily accessible. Looking at the notebook and using it for a week or so, I can say there are no significant flaws with the M35's exterior.
