    ThinkPad X300 - In summary

For those of you who are short on time or who just like a neat wrap up to help you make up your mind, we will cover the good, the bad and the odd.

The good things about this model:

    • The light weight and the low height makes storage, transfers and carrying easier.
    • The built-in web cam and microphone make chatting easier.
    • The inclusion of the XP operating system instead of Vista.
    • The full size keyboard and screen.

The bad things about this model:

    • The cost. $2500 to $3000 plus tax is a lot to pay for a laptop. At least it is for most of us.
    • Fragility that could render the model (and investment) useless.
    • A reduced length of warranty from previous ThinkPad models.
    • The double mouse can lead to unintended movements.

The odd things about this model:

    • The fingerprint scanner that will have success only in some limited situations.
    • The wireless USB which can be a bit of an adjustment if you are not used to it.

All in all, if you have the extra cash to spend on a laptop, this may be the model for you. To be honest, if you are not going to use the DVD drive often, you may want to pass on this model and get yourself a more economical one.
