The Toshiba Satellite T135-S1309 and the Sony Vaio Signature Collection X Laptops - Sony Design

The design is by far the highlight of this laptop. Sony claims it's the lightest of its kind on the market, weighing in at only 1.6 pounds. It is very durable, though, thanks to its carbon fiber construction. It measures 10.95 inches wide by 7.29 inches tall by a mere 0.55 inch thick. Needless to say, this is one compact laptop that almost anyone could handle.

The Signature Collection comes in a regal gold color that covers most of the exterior as well as the display, keyboard, and touch pad. If gold is too flashy, you can also get the entire body in black. The Vaio X has an 11.1-inch HD LED-backlit display with 1,366x768 resolution that produces excellent graphics and is also scratch-resistant.

The keyboard and touchpad are responsive but a bit on the small side. One plus to the touchpad is that it supports multi-touch gestures for things like zooming in and out of and flipping through pictures. For connectivity on the sides of the laptop, there is a VGA port, an Ethernet port, two USB 2.0 ports, and a headphone jack. Directly on the front of the laptop are an SD card slot and a Memory Stick Pro slot. There is no HDMI port on the Vaio X, unfortunately.

The main issue with the Sony Vaio Signature Collection X is its price. You do get some nice features, decent performance, top notch design, and excellent quality. Is it worth the $1500 price tag? On performance alone it isn't, but if you don't mind paying more for luxury and exquisite design, it is.
