The Nokia Booklet 3G Netbook and the Gateway NV5207U Laptop - Gateway Design

The NV5207U is a mid-sized laptop measuring 14.6 inches wide by 9.8 inches tall by 1.5 inches thick and weighing 6.8 pounds. It has a stylishly-colored coffee brown lid with a unique honeycomb pattern that should catch some looks.

Opening the NV5207U on its large, silver hinge reveals the black interior of the laptop. The highlight of the design is the 15.6-inch HD LED-backlit display with 1,366x768 resolution. The display produces good graphics, although its glossy finish does produce some glare problems at times.

Just beneath the display and above the keyboard is a row of touch-sensitive keys to control things such as volume and more. The keyboard itself is adequately sized and has a matte finish to provide decent grip while typing. One plus is that the keyboard includes a full number pad.

The touchpad is underwhelming and really too small for comfortable use. Some users may take a while to adjust to the touchpad's placement, which is off center due to the inclusion of the number pad. Rounding out the design of the NV5207U are its connectivity options located on its sides, which include ports for HDMI and VGA, four USB 2.0 ports, an Ethernet port, and headphone/microphone jacks.

For the money, it's hard to gripe with the NV5207U from Gateway. The design is solid for the most part, and so is the performance, considering its price. It won't really wow you in any way, but as a laptop for basic functions, it should suffice.
