Sony Vaio VGN-NW240F and HP Envy 15-1050nr Laptops - HP Envy 15-1050nr
(Page 3 of 4 )
The Hp Envy 15-1050nr is a mid-sized 15-inch laptop with a surprisingly thin profile and even more surprising performance. Although it packs a ton of punch in a thin frame, its price may pack too much of a punch for many, as you can pick up this retail model for $1,999.99.
If you can stomach the price, though, it may be worth your while. The Envy 15-1050nr comes with a one-year warranty on parts and labor. You can get tech support online through chat or email, as well as through a dedicated phone line just for Envy owners.
The fixed retail configuration of the HP Envy 15-1050nr comes with a 1.6-GHz Intel Core i7-720QM processor with 6 MB of L2 cache. This processor is one of the most powerful that you could expect to find in a laptop, and it provides excellent overall performance. Not only can you perform casual tasks like Internet surfing, but you can also view media and play games without a problem. It also comes with 6 GB of DDR3 SDRAM to help performance when multitasking. You can expand the RAM all the way up to 16 GB if you wish after purchasing the laptop.
The 15-1050nr also comes with an ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4830 graphics card, which is an upgrade over most common GPUs found in mainstream laptops. There is plenty of storage on board for all of your important files and media thanks to a 500 GB hard drive.
The Envy 15-1050nr comes with two batteries: a standard six-cell battery and an extra 9-cell battery that is basically a plate that clips onto the bottom of the laptop. Both of these used together are supposed to give you around seven hours of battery life. That’s a great amount of usage to have, but having to carry around an extra part takes away from the portability ease that many enjoy with laptops. Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit is the operating system that comes pre-installed.
Besides its core components, the Envy 15-1050nr also comes with integrated 802.11a/b/g/n Wi-Fi for connecting to wireless networks while on the go. You also get Bluetooth so you can connect to other compatible devices, such as MP3 players or cell phones, without the hassle of wires.
Due to the laptop’s thin profile, an internal optical drive does not come with the system, which is odd considering its 15-inch size. You do get an external DVD drive, though, so you can watch movies and listen to CDs. For chatting with your friends, there is an integrated night vision webcam and microphone. There’s also a 2-in-1 media reader that you can use to transfer data from other devices such as cameras.
