Sony Vaio VGN-NW240F laptop
The Sony Vaio VGN-NW240F is a mainstream laptop that can be found in retail stores in a fixed configuration. It comes with a unique and attractive design as well as good features and solid performance.
You can get the Vaio VGN-NW240F for a retail price of $729.99. It comes with a standard one-year warranty on parts and labor. Technical support is available online as well as through Sony’s 24/7 toll-free line.
The Vaio VGN-NW240F comes with a 2.2 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo T 6600 processor with 2 MB of L2 cache. This dual core processor gives the Vaio VGN-NW240F solid performance and allows you to run several applications at once without too much trouble. You can use the laptop for casual tasks like surfing the web, instant messaging, some media editing, and even some casual gaming. Although this particular configuration is not the most powerful you will find in a laptop, it definitely should suffice for the common user.
It also comes with 4 GB of DDR2 SDRAM to help with multitasking. You can expand the RAM all the way to 8 GB later if needed. You get decent storage space for your files with a 320 GB hard drive. For graphics, you get an Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 4500 MHD card.
The included six-cell battery on the Vaio VGN-NW240F gives you around four hours of usage on a full charge, which is decent and comparable to other mainstream laptops. Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit comes pre-installed as the laptop’s operating system, which seems to be the norm for most recently-released laptops on the market.
As we move along in the features we find built-in 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi so you can connect to the fastest available wireless networks while on the road. There is also a DVD drive so you can watch your favorite movies and listen to CDs for entertainment.
The system includes an integrated 1.3-megapixel Motion Eye webcam and microphone that you can use to do video chat with friends. The webcam uses face tracking technology to track your movements within its scope. The VGN-NW240F also has a media card reader which supports various formats that you can use for quick data transfer from other digital devices, such as cameras. Bluetooth is one feature that is absent; it would have been a nice addition.
